Visual Presentation of Superquinn Stand at Taste of Dublin 2011

The main thrust of the idea for the stand was centred around the location itself, specifically the large oak tree in the middle of the allocated site. I thought it would be great to have a large slab of decking under the tree as an attractive place to hang out whilst eating and drinking your Superquinn goodies and be surrounded by the stand from all sides.

Superquinn had requested two marque tents for the site which from experience can look a bit drab and very similar to the neighbouring stands. To give these tents a lift and the site in general I came up with the idea of these entrance arches and signage posts. Using these dives I could give the stand/site a sense of place, making it bigger and giving it a more dramatic impact to an approaching visitor.

Another device I used to give the stand a lift was the wine bottle and glass on a tray. This idea is very much inspired by Pop art sculpture of the 1960's where everyday objects where scaled up to huge sizes and displayed in city plazas. This idea worked on many levels for the stand and for Superquin. Firstly it was an eye catching device, secondly it was a meeting point at a very busy event, thirdly the tray doubled up as a bench and lastly Superquinn wanted to really push the idea of their wine sales so it worked perfectly on that level as well.

After these visuals were presented some changes were made to the layout of the stand which is standard practise at these events. The Wine Bar was taken out and relocated into the Hexagon shaped Hut. Also the contents/layout of the main tents were swapped around. Other than that things where kept pretty much the same.

These visuals where produced using Vectorworks to build the 3D Model and Artlantis to render it, all done by myself here at Escir Design.

Aer Lingus 75th Anniversary Exhibition

Last Year it was Aer Lingus's 75th Anniversary and to mark the occasion they put on a party for all their staff and families as well as ex staff and those involved in Irish aviation past and present.

As part of the occasion which took place in Hanger 6 in Dublin Airport they had an area dedicated to showing the History of Aer Lingus. It was my job to take their extensive archive and distill it down into a visual essay of their history. The exhibition was hung on both sides of eight long walls 2.4m high which featured a time line along its top as well as display cases of artefacts through the decades.

It was an amazing experience to be involved with and I got a fantastic over view of Irish Aviation as much as the history of Aer Lingus.

It was a big success by all accounts and very popular with the guests.

Here is a selection of photographs of two bathrooms I redesigned last summer. As well as the design work which included 3D graphic presentations I also project managed the job and built and fitted three units. I also built and fitted the caps for the built in cistern units.

Superquinn Stand at Taste of Dublin 2011

Taste of Dublin 2011 has come and gone but lucky for me the sun came out when I was there soaking up the atmosphere and checking out how my design compared to the rendered visuals as well as how people were interacting with the stand.

This is my second year designing the Superquinn stand at the show and all going well I'll be doing it again next year.

I believe Superquinn were very happy with it.
